PRRD Invites Residents to Join Last Engagement Events for Solid Waste Network Assessment

Join us on Thursday, September 24 for our final public engagement events on the Solid Waste Network Assessment. It’s the last chance to provide your input on potential changes to waste and recycling services that you use across the region.

World Café, September 24, 10:30am - 12pm

Bring your thoughts and share them with other interested parties at the World Café, happening from 10:30am to 12pm on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Peace River Regional District office in Dawson Creek (1981 Alaska Avenue).

This event will give you an opportunity to connect with others in small groups, learn more, discuss about the proposed changes and share your thoughts and experiences. Discussions will focus on potential changes such as upgrading services at key locations, adjusting operating hours, improving recycling opportunities and more.

Drop-in Open House, September 24, 1pm - 5pm

That’s not all! For a more casual opportunity to learn about the project and share your thoughts, join the  Drop-in Open House from 1pm to 5pm on September 24 at the Peace River Regional District office in Dawson Creek (1981 Alaska Avenue). This is another opportunity to have your say and share your thoughts throughout the day.

Background

The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) manages a regional solid waste network that includes three landfills, 16 attended transfer stations, 11 unattended transfer stations, three privately operated recycling depots and three unattended recycling drop-off sites.

The PRRD’s 2021 Regional Solid Waste Management Plan identified improving access to and increasing the efficiency of the Solid Waste Facility Network as a key priority.
