Old Fort Landslide Update – May 4, 2026, 5:00pm
During our drone flight on Friday May 1st, we were able to see the range of the impact the landslide has had on the road and beyond.
MOTT has reported that over the weekend movement rates continued to slow but the slide remains active. New ground cracking has been observed near the top of the slide, consistent with monitoring data. Water continues to be a concern, and weather conditions are being watched closely.
Because of these conditions Old Fort Road remains closed.
We understand the impact this is having on the evacuees and surrounding areas. We sincerely thank everyone for their continued resilience and care for one another as a community.
Reminder: Stay Off the Slide
There continues to be reports of individuals, including children, crossing over the active landslide area. This is extremely dangerous to life safety, as landslides may contain crevices, voids, and loose or muddy debris. Landslides are unpredictable, constantly changing and are naturally unstable.
Areas near the slide are at increased risk and could be impacted without warning.
