Old Fort Landslide Evacuation Order and Alert Update - April 24, 2026, 5:00pm
An Evacuation Order and Alert remain in effect for the Old Fort area due to an active landslide resulting in a Ministry of Transportation and Transit road closure causing community isolation.
There is no safe road access to or from the community.
Current Situation and Safety Warning
The landslide remains active and unstable. Conditions can change abruptly. Ground movement in the active part of the landslide was noted to be 9 to 10mm/minute on Friday.
Vehicles near the landslide are at increased risk due to ongoing ground movement and possible expansion of the affected area. Do not park in this area. Vehicles may be parked to the west (Fort St John side) of the Traffic Control Point.
No new updates will be published this weekend unless there are any notable changes to the situation. The PRRD Emergency Operations Centre remains activated.
If You Remain in the Area
