Regional District Highlights for September 2026
It's an Election Year in the Peace!
Your voice matters in the Peace River Regional District (PRRD). Whether you are a first-time voter or a seasoned participant in the democratic process, it's important to stay informed about the voting opportunities available to you.
The next General Local Election is Saturday, October 17, 2026. Unlike provincial elections, each local government is responsible for running its own local elections. For the Peace River Regional District, voting opportunities include elections for electoral area directors and referendums on proposed new services.
What You Can Vote On
If you meet basic voter eligibility and live in the rural electoral areas (B, C, D and E) of the PRRD, you can vote on your electoral area director if more than one candidate is running in your area.
Depending on where you live, you may also be eligible to vote on referendums for a proposed new water service and/or a rural community/recreational space.

Voter Eligibility
To vote as a resident, you must:
- Be 18 or older on voting day
- Be a Canadian citizen
- Have lived in British Columbia for at least six (6) months before registering to vote
- Live in the electoral area or municipality where you’re voting
- Not be disqualified from voting under any laws or otherwise disqualified by law
If you do not live in the PRRD but own property in one of the electoral areas, you may be eligible to vote as a non-resident property elector. Visit prrd.bc.ca/Votes to learn more.

- Advance Voting Days: October 7 & 14, 2026
- General Voting Day: October 17, 2026
- Official Results Determined: October 21, 2026
