PRRD Extends Survey Deadline on New Regional Zoning Bylaw Draft

The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is inviting the public to submit their feedback on the Regional Zoning Bylaw draft Round 2 online survey. To ensure everyone has a chance to contribute, the survey has been extended to December 15, 2025, at 10:00am MST.

Paper copies of the survey are also available at the PRRD offices in Dawson Creek (1981 Alaska Avenue) and Fort St. John (9595 100 Street).

The new bylaw has been given first reading by the Regional Board but is still in draft form. Resident feedback is needed to help refine the bylaw before it is presented to the Regional Board for next steps.

The PRRD has so far received over 280 responses and encourages residents who have not yet completed the survey to get their feedback before the new deadline. The last round of community engagement garnered over 600 survey responses.

Background

The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is creating a new Regional Zoning Bylaw to replace the five existing ones, some of which date back to 1976. These zoning bylaws outline land uses to ensure safety standards and consistent guidelines for property owners. They also specify if land can be used for agriculture, residential, industrial or commercial purposes. The new bylaw aims to simplify and consolidate for better accessibility, update regulations based on community feedback, reduce red tape and modernize.
