The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has launched a public survey as part of the first round of community engagement assessing the regional network of solid waste (garbage and recycling) facilities.
The PRRD covers a large area with widely spread communities, and the Regional District wants to make sure the system works well for everyone. This assessment will help the PRRD learn what is working for facility users, what could be improved to make the system easier to use and more cost efficient.
The first survey is open from March 2, 2026, to March 20, 2026, at 4:30pm (MST). It will help the PRRD understand how residents currently use the garbage and recycling facilities, what challenges they face and what matters most.
The Electoral Area D Director Leonard Hiebert is inviting residents to a series of community meetings in March and April. The meetings offer an open discussion for residents to raise local issues, learn about regional initiatives and help shape future priorities.

The push-in ceremony is a longstanding fire service tradition in which firefighters push a new engine into the fire hall for the first time.

Since its launch in 2021, farmers in the region have demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainable waste management, diverting over 55 tonnes of these items from landfills.
