Committees
The Peace River Regional District relies on a range of committees to address the needs and priorities of the region. Together, they work to support effective governance, sustainable development and the well-being of residents across our communities.

These committees, each with their specific focus and mandate, play a vital role in guiding decision-making, implementing initiatives and addressing community concerns:

Health Care Scholarship Criteria Select Committee
The Health Care Scholarship Criteria Select Committee plays a pivotal role in supporting the development and retention of health care professionals in the Peace River Region. Among its key responsibilities, the committee facilitates the distribution of health care scholarships to medical students, ensuring financial assistance is provided to those pursuing careers in health care. The committee implements Regional Board initiatives aimed at recruiting and retaining skilled health care professionals, addressing critical workforce needs in the region.
The committee adjudicates RN/RPN health care scholarship applications, as well as other scholarships as necessary. Furthermore, it provides health care-related recommendations to the Board, including proposals to expand or reduce scholarship programs based on evolving needs and priorities. They manage the scholarship budget with Regional Board approval. This enables the committee to disperse funds effectively to participants in various health care education programs. Through these efforts, the committee contributes significantly to strengthening the health care system and supporting the next generation of medical professionals.
