Telecommunication Towers

The Peace River Regional District's Telecommunications Tower Siting Policy explains where you can place telecommunication towers and their supporting structures in our Electoral Areas. You must apply if you want to erect a telecommunications tower.

How to Apply

You must email our Development Services Department your completed application or call 250-785-8084 if you have any questions. Please note that there is a $250 fee to the PRRD for all telecommunication tower proposals. You may need to hold a public meeting and send notifications to the affected parties. The Regional Board must also authorize some approval letters.

Public Meetings

If your application is for private land, there must be a public meeting. For applications on Crown land within 1.5 km of a residential area, there must also be a public meeting.

If there is a required public meeting, you must send notifications to the affected property owners within the specified notification area. Please see the Telecommunications Tower Siting Policy for more details on public meeting and notification requirements including:

  • Timing of notifications
  • Notification distance
  • Details on required recipients

Concurrence

For all proposals, we may issue a concurrence letter subject to the Policy's requirements. A concurrence letter is a document where a person or organization formally states their agreement with a proposed action, decision or plan, signifying their approval or support for it. Should you fail to meet the requirements of the Policy, we will issue a letter of non-concurrence.
