Utility Extension Grants
Grant funding is available to help extend public utility services for electrical and natural gas connections in rural areas of the Peace River Regional District. These grants help to offset the cost of mainline extensions along publicly maintained roads that serve residential customers. You can find an example of how to calculate the grant amount in the application form. The grants are one-time only, even if you own multiple properties. As the homeowner, you are responsible for connecting your residence to the mainline.
How to Apply
To qualify, you must be a registered owner of a rural property in Electoral Areas B, C, D or E. Please email us your completed application. We accept applications at any time of year. You can also download our Utility Extension Grants Policy to learn more.
Electrical Extension Grant
You may be eligible for funding at a rate of 50 percent of the balance of the cost to extend the service to a maximum grant of $4,000.00. As the property owner, you are responsible for the first $1,000.00 of the cost to extend the service.
Natural Gas Extension Grant
You may be eligible for funding of up to 75 percent of the total cost minus any other contribution, like provincial grants, to a maximum amount of $5,000.00.
