Sports and Cultural Event Grants
The Sports and Cultural Events Grant-in-Aid provides funding to help bring national and international sporting and cultural events to the Peace River region. These events showcase the region on a global stage, offer entertainment for residents and attract visitors. To apply, you must either be a not-for-profit organization registered and in good standing with the BC Societies Act, or a Local Government, First Nations Government, Band or Council operating within the boundaries of the Peace River Regional District.
How to Apply
To apply, please email us your completed application before November 1 of the current year. Please note that we do not accept any late applications. You can also drop it off in person to:
- 1981 Alaska Avenue, Dawson Creek
- 9505 100 Street, Fort St. John
If your organization receives a Sports and Cultural Events Grant-in-Aid for a single event or year, you must submit a report within 60 days after the event. The report must include:
- How much of the grant money was used and a proposal for how any leftover funds could be spent, subject to Board approval
- Photos of the event and the number of participants
If your organization receives funding for multiple years, you must submit a report within 60 days after each event. This report must include:
- Photos of the event and participation numbers
- Breakdown of how the grant funds were spent, noting any unused funds and a proposed plan for using them
- Financial statements, including a balance sheet and income statement, each year
You must return any unused funds to the PRRD within six months after the event unless the Board approves a plan for using the remaining funds. Failure to meet these reporting requirements may result in losing future funding or being disqualified from applying for future grants. You can view the Sports and Cultural Events Grant-In-Aid Policy for more information.
