Health Care Scholarships
The Peace River Regional District offers health care scholarships to help tackle the urgent need for more health care workers in our region. These scholarships are designed to make it easier for people like you to study health care programs at colleges or universities. Health Care High School Scholarships for $1,500
If you are a student graduating from a public school in School District No. 59 or School District No. 60 and you are planning to pursue a post-secondary program in health care, you can apply for the Health Care High School Scholarship. This includes programs that lead to a certificate, diploma or degree, such as:
- Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- X-ray Technician
- Medical Laboratory Technician
- Licensed Practical Nursing
- Health Care Assistant
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
How to Apply
You can apply mid-March to mid-May by contacting your academic advisor or school counsellor. A school selection committee reviews applications based on where you live, your grades, your involvement in the community, your financial situation and whether you have been accepted into a post-secondary program. Through the program, ten scholarships of $1,500 are available between the six public schools based on student population:
- One for Chetwynd Secondary
- Three for Dawson Creek Secondary
- One for Hudson’s Hope Secondary
- Three for North Peace Secondary
- One for Prespatou Secondary
- One for Tumbler Ridge Secondary
Northern Lights College Health Care Scholarships for $1,000
Northern Lights College is offering 20 scholarships, each worth $1,000, to students who successfully complete the Health Care Assistant program, Practical Nursing program or Access to Practical Nursing program at the college. They will give priority to applicants who have lived in the PRRD for at least two and a half years before starting their health care program.
