Arenas and Skating
The Peace River Regional District works with rural communities and local municipalities to support the construction, maintenance and operation of recreation facilities and arenas. Whether you’re lacing up your skates for a game of hockey, practicing figure skating or just enjoying a public skate, these arenas are great places to stay active and connect with your community.
Buick Arena
Located 45 minutes north of Fort St. John at 15251 Buick Creek Road, Buick, this arena features an NHL-size ice surface. It’s run by the Buick Creek Community Club and partially funded by the rural service area. For this season’s schedule or to book ice time, call 250-630-2738 or email the Buick Creek Community Club.
Clearview Arena
Just 40 minutes northeast of Fort St. John at 13772 223 Road, Goodlow, this arena is operated by the Clearview Arena Society and also supported by the rural service area. To check the schedule or book ice time, call 250-261-5860 or email the Clearview Arena Society.
Chetwynd and District Recreation Centre
Right in the heart of Chetwynd, the Chetwynd and District Recreation Centre offers something for everyone, preschoolers, youth and adults. It includes a recreation centre with an arena, a curling rink, gym, climbing wall, multi-purpose rooms and a food service area as well as a separate building with a leisure pool, hot tub and sauna. Whether you’re into sports, swimming or community events, there’s plenty to enjoy.
