Seasonal End: Free Composting Pilot Program Closes October 31, Returns May 2026

The free Composting Pilot Program at Bessborough is wrapping up its first season on October 31, 2025. Residents have until the end of the day to drop off accepted materials including grass clippings, leaves and pruning's up to 5 cm in diameter without incurring any tipping fees.

The Peace River Regional District is pleased to confirm that the program will resume next spring at the Bessborough Landfill on May 15, 2026, continuing the pilot annually through to 2027.

Please Note: Yard and garden waste dropped off after October 31 will incur standard tipping fees and will be directed to the active face for burial, as they are outside of the free composting pilot dates.
