PRRD Endorses Regional Climate Resiliency Plan
The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) announces the completion of its Regional Climate Resiliency Plan (RCRP) project. The Regional Board endorsed the plan at the July 17, 2025, board meeting.
The RCRP is the region’s first strategic roadmap to address climate change impacts across the four electoral areas. The plan will help make the region more resilient against extreme weather events such as wild fires, floods, droughts and other climate-related risks. It also outlines steps and resources to bring protection measures into action. The plan was developed with significant public engagement which helped shape the key action areas of the document:
- Buildings and Energy
- Transportation and Mobility
- Public Infrastructure and Corporate Responsibility
- Local Economy and Agriculture
- Emergency Management
- Ecosystems and Green Spaces
The plan focuses on actions that the PRRD can undertake to increase resiliency and support the needs of residents in the region.
Residents provided significant public feedback during the plan’s development. We thank all residents who shared input throughout the RCRP development process. To review the RCRP, visit the project page at haveyoursay.prrd.bc.ca/rcrp.

“Developing this climate action plan has been one of our most collaborative community projects yet. The stories and concerns shared by residents across electoral areas really drove home why this work is so important. We’ve all seen firsthand how extreme weather impacts communities in the region. This plan gives us concrete steps to reduce those risks and better respond. We’re eager to start implementing these strategies.”
