Landfills and Transfer Stations
There are landfills, waste transfer stations and 24/7 bin sites available for your use throughout the Peace River Regional District. You can drop off your waste at a transfer station or bin site, where the waste will be transferred to the nearest landfill or recycling depot.
If you are a resident, we will issue you free cleanup coupons each year for disposing your waste. You can view our tipping fees and discover how sorting can save you money. Have a business? Learn how to apply for a Commercial Landfill Account.

Frequently Asked Questions
View the frequently asked questions about our landfills and waste transfer stations. You can email Environmental Services if you have any other questions or need more information.
Are landfills and waste transfer stations open on holidays?
The landfills and waste transfer stations are open on all holidays except:
- Christmas Day (December 25)
- New Year’s Day (January 1)
Our aim is to keep the sites open and accessible during the other holidays for you to use.
Why are the rural waste transfer stations only open 26 hours instead of 30?
The Regional District Board approves the schedule for rural waste transfer stations. If you're unhappy with the operation hours, you can contact the Regional Board and PRRD staff can look at shifting hours.
Will the attendant help unload material from my vehicle?
Please note that attendants are not required to unload residents' waste from vehicles; however, upon request and to aid with accessibility concerns, most attendants will assist you if they are able.
Why does it cost $15 for a printout receipt?
This is service fee for utilizing a Peace River Regional District infrastructure (scale) without using the facility to drop off waste. The cost is for use of the scale to weigh the material in question and to be provided with a scale ticket without using the facility.
Why does it cost $5 for a re-print of a disposal receipt or transaction ticket?
This is an administration fee to cover the staff time and supplies for providing duplicate printouts.
When do the bulky bins arrive at the Tier 2 Waste Transfer Stations?
The bulky bins are available during the spring and fall for two weeks during Seasonal Cleanup.
The process for getting bids for available contractors to provide the best price take time and has to be planned well. Setting the bins out in May and October long weekends offers consistency in that people can plan their bigger clean-up projects around these times more easily.
Who should I contact if I have comments or concerns about the waste disposal sites in general?
If you have any concerns with the operations at a waste disposal site, have ideas on how we can better serve your needs or would like to report an issue with our equipment, please email us or call 250-782-3200.
