Volunteer Firefighters
The Peace River Regional District proudly manages both the Charlie Lake Fire Department (CLFD) and the Moberly Lake Volunteer Fire Department (MLVFD). These dedicated full-time fire departments are committed to serving around 4,400 residents. We rely on the invaluable support of volunteers to maintain our high standard of fire protection services. If you're a resident of Charlie Lake or Moberly Lake and are eager to contribute to your community, we invite you to join our team!
Becoming a Volunteer Firefighter
Charlie Lake Fire Department
The Charlie Lake Fire Department (CLFD) trains its firefighters to meet the National Fire Protection Association 1001 Level 2 Standard. They have around 20 firefighters certified at this level. The CLFD welcomes new firefighters once a year through a recruitment process.
To join the CLFD, complete the application list on Have Your Say or call the CLFD fire hall at 250-785-1424. To become a volunteer firefighter, you will need to:
- Complete a recruit package, which includes a medical clearance and an RCMP criminal record check
- Pass a physical fitness test
- Attend an interview
If you pass the recruitment process, you will receive an offer to join the team. Once accepted as a new recruit, you will take part in a 3-month orientation program. After completing this program, you will get a pagers and officially become part of the CLFD team as a firefighter.
Moberly Lake Volunteer Fire Department
The Moberly Lake Volunteer Fire Department (MLVFD) actively recruits all year and is dependent on volunteers to provide fire protection services to the community. If you live within a 15-kilometer drive of the Moberly Lake fire hall and want to serve your community, please consider becoming a volunteer firefighter with the MLVFD.
