Temporary Use Permit

A Temporary Use Permit lets you use land, buildings or structures in a way that would not normally be allowed by the zoning regulations within the Peace River Regional District. The permit can cover a wide range of activities including worker camps, storage and many other land uses.

How to Apply

To apply, please email us your completed application or you can drop it off in person to:

  • 1981 Alaska Avenue, Dawson Creek
  • 9505 100 Street, Fort St. John

Temporary Use Permit Expiry

This permit is valid for a specific period and can last up to three years after issued. Once the permit expires, you must stop the activity. You can only renew Temporary Use Permits once. After that, we recommend applying for a re-zoning amendment if your land use needs to continue.

Before You Start

Before applying for a Temporary Use Permit for a worker camp, it is important to ensure that you have all the necessary information and documentation. The Checklist for Worker Camp Temporary Use Permits outlines the key steps and requirements to guide you through the application process. Please note that if your temporary use is within the Agricultural Land Reserve, you may need approval from the Agricultural Land Commission for any non-farm use of the land. Security may be required for your proposal, contact a planner to learn more.
