Bylaw Enforcement

The Peace River Regional District's Bylaw Enforcement Officer helps to ensure that our bylaws, rules and decisions are applied consistently and cost-effectively. They are responsible for investigating complaints, educating the public about bylaws and taking action when violations occur.

Bylaws

Bylaws are local laws created by the PRRD to address specific community needs, such as zoning, property standards and building regulations. These rules protect public health, safety and the environment, while promoting effective development and community well-being.

Building Bylaw

The Building Bylaw is a set of rules established by the PRRD that outline the process for reviewing and approving applications for building permits. It ensures that all construction projects within the region meet the necessary standards for safety, quality and compliance. The bylaw also details how the PRRD enforces these rules in situations when construction begins without the required permit. Building permits are essential as they help to make sure that everyone plans and builds their construction projects in accordance with the BC Building Code, which sets the minimum standards for building design, materials and safety across the province.
